Marseille, December 6th, 2017 – GEOCORAIL, an innovative company specialized in the prevention of coastal erosion and the protection of marine structures, announces today that it is one of the four winners of the 2017 edition of the Méd’Innovant contest that took place in Marseille.

Since 2010, the Med’Innovant innovative solutions competition, organized by the Euroméditerranée Public Planning Institution (Etablissement Public d’Aménagement) and the Euroméditerranée City of Entrepreneurs, aims to promote and support project holders developing the new uses of today and tomorrow, bringing innovative solutions to the challenges of sustainable development of Smart Cities and Smart Ports.

GEOCORAIL was first selected as one of the 12 finalists out of the 86 projects evaluated by the Méd’Innovant technical committee.

The presentation of the innovative nature of the Geocorail® solution to 30 experts then convinced the members of the jury, which included, among others, representatives of ENGIE, Saint-Gobain Building Distribution France, CIC, CCI Marseille Provence, the Grand Port Maritime of Marseille and the City of Marseille.

On Tuesday, November 21, 2017, under the chairmanship of Laure-Agnès Caradec and Sandra Chalinet and in the presence of Jean-Claude Gaudin, Mayor of Marseille, GEOCORAIL and three other projects holders were rewarded during a special event dedicated to sustainable, connected and intelligent ports and cities.

In addition to a grant, GEOCORAIL will benefit, in the coming year of:

  • An increased visibility in local and national media,
  • Opportunities and support to demonstrate the relevance of its solutions within the Marseille Grand Port Maritime, Marseille Provence CCI and the city of Marseille.

GEOCORAIL develops and commercializes innovative solutions to mitigate shore erosion and protect maritime coastal works and offshore structures. These solutions are based on an electrochemical process respectful of the environment that allows the in situ creation of a natural stone from minerals present at the site. The Geocorail® exhibits a high mechanical resistance and presents an aspect which allows it to blend into its surroundings. The Geocorail® formation mechanism can also be used to trap and recover certain pollutants present in the marine environment, such as heavy metals. GEOCORAIL continues the development and optimization of its process for direct applications and is looking to partner with major players in maritime engineering for applications complementing existing engineering practices. GEOCORAIL was founded and advised by Truffle Capital in 2012 and is supported by the Incubatrice Holding “Chimie Verte” (
